There are resources for free e-books out there. In this short article,
I would like to highlight several possibilities for you.
Chess Composition Books
http://www.algonet.se/~ath/
This is a wonderful collection for the problems enthusiast. All in PDF (Adobe Acrobat). The last time I visited, there were 20 titles
available, in print enhanced and reading enhanced versions.
Project Gutenberg
http://www.gutenberg.org/
The king of public domain texts (plain text and HTML mostly). Do an advanced search on the subject of "Chess" and you will find
at least 5 useful books.
Knudsen Edition E-Books
http://www.ebook.echoz.com/
I would be remiss if I didn't plug my own little e-book publishing site. There are currently 7 free chess titles available, in WIN32
format and PDF.
There are also commercial sites which offer e-books, but that is beyond the scope of this article.
Happy reading!
