First Email Chess World Championship (ICCF)
The following information was distributed by Eckhard Lers
of ICCF. Thanks to fellow webmaster and ICCF International Arbiter Ralph Marconi for bringing this information to my attention.
The "First Email Chess World Championship" will be sponsored by the Dutch
company "New in Chess" (NiC); details of this agreement will be published
at the ICCF Website.
The 14 sections will be directed by Ian Brooks (ENG)
and Jose Antonio S. Goncalves (BRS).
Following each section listed below is additional information for that section.
Each section is an all-play-all event. Based on a letter written by ICCF President Alan Borwell
it appears that the top two finishers in each section will advance to the semi-finals (or, as
ICCF likes to call them, the 3/4 finals) to be joined by other top qualifiers.
It looks like an exceptionally difficult competition, as
you would expect in such a prestigious world championship event.
